What can one man possibly accomplish?(1)
"Walking swiftly along the filthy and mudded road was a shady creature. A creature engulfed only in darkness, fearing the light. This creature was not human, nor was it a beast. It was something filled with malice and despair." This is the only fragment of information we could achieve to discover within our capabilities, except however an approximate of his location.
However terrifying this "thing" may look, it was once human. It had been martyred and experimented on like a mere lab rat. Why, do you say? It is because this creature was originally weak and of no proper use to us nobles. You see, unlike the indecisive past you live in, our scientist's aren't bothered by petty morality. It was a powerful and muscular being, unlike no man. It had no ears. The ears were torn apart from his head, as we had to fiddle with its brain. I who was new that day vomited all over the floor, as I heard his screams piercing trough the silence as they were gouging off his ears. Day's went by, and we finally realized what we had created, but we were too ignorant. Even though we realized what it could do, we did not understand it. One day he shredded off the chains that held him down like it was paper. The high manpower and even our advanced technology was no match for it. We forgot to name the "thing" but after a while as it came to be known with the civilians, it was instantly named "Gluttony" because of its trademark to engulf every inch of meat, attached to the victim's bones. We are currently tracing him, with rather poor advancement in the investigation. Current location: England, Colchester.
Though Gluttony relied a lot on his muscular attributes, he did not lack a brain either. That is why he was clever enough to eliminate and devour only those who traveled alone, leaving no trace of evidence behind him. He also cloaked himself to prevent any passing civilians to either recognize his face, or notice his deformed and martyred face. Although he doesn't need to feast all that often, there are certain times he has taken a large amount of risks for cold bloodedly murdering his "snack". That is how we got this information, a few civilians nearby had observed the situation and notified the government, If you were able to phrase it that way. This country is again, like a distant past, suffering from an extreme case of absolutism. But that is none of my concern, since I was born on the right side of the walls.
"We have come a long way in retrieving our "mistake". Now is our chance to fix it. No, we cannot undo our sins, but we can atone for them! We storm Colchester tonight or we face a super soldier designed for annihilating an average sized country!" The commander in chief yelled out the most determined words I have ever heard. He was standing high on platform in front of half of the British military force. "Sir, yes sir!" We all shouted back, while saluting. There were a lot of blended in emotions surrounding the base camp. There were the ones who were forcefully brought here (Which wasn't a few), and had abandoned all hope. But still we had a lot of soldiers who were loyal to Brittany, and would gladly die for the sake of it. I myself do not know what to feel. I have been pursuing this "thing" ever since he escaped. I fear it, but I want it dead. I yearn for its power, but I don't want to be destroyed by it. I kind of feel like I want to. Like I want to control it, for my own selfish purposes. I am after all the second in command here. I could make it happen. It is just a matter of whether the army is going to be loyal or not. Will anyone notice if I slay the commander on the battlefield? No, it's too simplistic. I need something more genius. I have to find a private to do it for me. Someone who is frightened, but lacks the brains to realize what he is doing.
What is happening to me? I would never betray my country! Yet why do I feel this immensely growing lust for power inside of me? No, it is clear. I must eliminate my commander. He is the obstacle between me, and the power to sculpt the world to my liking.
