Selv med utgivelsen av Xbox 360 kan ikke Microsoft tenke seg å kutte ut den originale Xbox, det har den amerikanske giganten ingen planer om. Etter en haug med rykter som ble startet på Kotaku.com om hvorvidt Microsoft ville stoppe produksjonen av maskinen og kutte vesentlig ned på antallet av nye spill, har firmaet tatt til motmæle: Microsoft vil fortsatt støtte opp om Xbox’en.
"We remain very supportive of the Xbox platform and there have been no announcements about plans to cease or alter production. While we do not have other titles to announce at this time, we are committed to providing existing Xbox customers with exciting gaming experiences in 2006. There are 200 Xbox titles expected to ship this year. It is the responsibility of the first party to create genre-defining games for its platform and we are taking that stance with both Xbox and Xbox 360."
Så har du enda ingen planer om å kjøpe en Xbox 360 så skulle det altså stadig være en del tid igjen for den eldre burken.
