Filmen om den Kasakhstanske journalisten Borat har tatt verden med storm. Borat hadde norgespremiere på fredag, og denne helgen ble filmen nummer en på kinotoppen. I Norge ble Borat sett av over 51.000 personer, noe som betyr at de fleste forestillingene denne helgen var utsolgt. I USA har filmen gått for fulle hus de siste ukene, og har nå nådd 580 millioner NOK.
Borat selv har uttalt seg om denne fantastiske suksessen:
" I would like thank everyone for causing success of this moviefilm. There have been much celebrations in Kazakhstan and today at 2pm, my glorious Premier Nazarbayev will drive the Kazakh Presidential Toyota Corolla (with sunroof), through capital of Almaty - with four balloons tied to it. He will beep the horn and throw toffees and fireworks out of the window for the childrens. I would also like thank generous anti-communist Fox Corporation for sharing profits of this movie. They have fully honoured the terms of our deal and already supplied my Government with the 120 Playstation PSPs. My nation has never known of such riches.
I think this success will bring my country closer to the West; capitalist corporations - Nike, Walmarts, please bring your factories to Kazakhstan - our 7 year olds are the hardest working in all of Central Asia. Chenquieh."
