De siste årene har virtual reality blitt et hett tema innen elektronikk- og spillbransjen takket være først og fremst Oculus Rift. Sony har avslørt at skal være med på leken med sin Project Morpheus, og nå sier selveste Xbox-sjef Phil Spencer at Microsoft også har noe på gang i et intervju med AV Watch:
"I believe that Kinect, voice and virtual reality are those key new elements. That's why I'm glad that Sony and Oculus are investing in VR. We're also working on an investment of our own, but it's not at a stage in which we can talk about it yet."
