Sagaen imellom tidligere Claptrap-stemmeskuespiller og Gearbox Software-ansatt David Eddings og nåværende CEO Randy Pitchford fortsetter. Den korte historien er at Eddings tidligere har gitt stemme til Claptrap gratis, men nå ønsker han å få penger for arbeidet sitt, og derfor har Gearbox funnet en ny stemmeskuespiller, og så har krangelen oppstått imellom de to om hva de riktige detaljene egentlig er.
Nå har Eddings tatt steget videre, for han forteller noe som aldri før har kommet frem i offentligheten - at Randy Pitchford en gang overfalt ham i en hotellobby.
Eddings sier på Twitter, at han ble overfalt under GDC-messen i 2017, og han sier også at det har gått i nedoverbakke for Pitchford de siste årene.
"I ultimately offered to do it for "free" in exchange for past royalties owed plus an apology for something I've never spoken about publicly until now: Randy physically assaulted me in the lobby of the Marriott Marquis at GDC 2017. Personally, I think Randy's been on tilt the last few years. He's not the victim he portrays himself to be. I even blocked him a couple years ago for stalking me on social media. Enough is enough."
Pitchford har selv ikke svart tilbake, men Gearbox har utlevert en melding til PC Gamer:
"Gearbox takes any and all claims of this nature very seriously and we will abstain from commenting on the allegations Dave is making because it is a personnel matter. We appreciate David's contributions to the Borderlands franchise and have continued to assert that we would welcome him back into the mix as the voice of Claptrap and other future opportunities."
