Den 18 minutter lange gameplayvideoen fra det nye Doom var som forventet proppfull av voldelige scener, og som vanlig har slikt ført til reaksjoner fra folk som ikke bare vil styre unna, men også ønsker at andre gjør det samme. Pete Hines fra Bethesda har på sin side ingen problemer med å forsvare spillet når han intervjues av Polygon:
"Yes! Can you stick it in a demon and saw him in half? Can you grab them by the hand, rip them in two and see the spine sticking up? It turns out you can do that, and it makes it pretty cool and fun. If you're not into violent, bloody games... Doom's probably not a game for you."
