Selv om The Simpsons: Hit & Run var en skamløs GTA-klone, så formet utvikleren Radical Entertainment likevel spillet med såpass mye kjærlighet til den ikoniske serien at fans verden over elsket det. Det har nå lagt ganske mange år bak seg, og flere ganger har det vært snakk om en remater, eller en remake, blant fansen.
Kan det skje? Ja, hvis vi spør showets co-showrunner, Matt Selman. I et intervju med IGN sier Selman at han selv har lobbyet for å få spillet restaurert og gjenutgitt, men at det har vist seg å være komplisert.
"I would love to see a remastered version of [Simpsons Hit & Run], I would. It's a complicated corporate octopus to try to make that happen."
Han forklarer også hvordan de bestemte seg for å lage det opprinnelig:
"We were all playing Grand Theft Auto at the time and publisher... they just wanted another driving game. And we were like, everyone's playing whatever version of Grand Theft Auto, people need to get out of the cars. That was a huge creative battle over whether it was just a 'driving around doing missions' game or a 'getting out of the car and doing missions' game. But I do think the battle was worth fighting."
