Matrix-hysteriet bare vokser og vokser. Nå har Ubi Soft og Warner Brothers signert en avtale om å lage ett avansert rollespill basert på Wachowski brødrenes filmer.
The Matrix Online skal altså bli ett MMOG (massively multiplayer online game) basert på konseptet fra filmene. Spillet utvikles av Monolith Productions og vil, i følge dem, inneholde suveren grafikk, sanntids-slossing i sann kampsportstil og en historie som fortsetter der film nummer tre slutter.
Produsenten bak filmene, Joel Silver, har kommet med følgende uttalelse om det kommende online-spillet:
"The Wachowski Brothers' vision for The Matrix is one that extends far beyond the theatrical trilogy, and the world they have created is so rich that we've chosen to tell inter-connected Matrix-related stories in multiple medium. Our goal in collaborating with Ubi Soft is to create a multiplayer online game that reflects the trilogy's highly stylized storytelling and innovative action, taking fans beyond the boundaries of the movie screen and into a 'persistent world' where they can fully explore the vast realm of the Matrix."
