Et av spillene vi virkelig har kost oss med i år er Sea of Thieves, Rare sitt open-world online-pirateventyr. Spillet startet i det små, og har sakte men sikkert vokst seg større og mer innholdsrikt.
På Gamescom i forrige uke fikk vi muligheten til å sette oss ned sammen med produsent Joe Neate fra Rare, og snakke om det nye inneholdet som er på vei til Sea of Thieves, nærmere bestemt Forsaken Shores.
"The new part of the world is called The Devil's Roar and it's a very perilous world," fortalte Neate oss i Köln. "It's an extension to the existing world, it's kind of on the south-east side. So you can sail there from the current world that you're used to exploring, but it's really a choice that you're making to go to this place because there's not as many resources there, it's obviously very dangerous, there's volcanic eruptions. So you're going to want to stock up before you go, maybe even form an alliance so you go into this world feeling a bit safer.
"If a volcano does go off it leads to some planned chaos," sa Neate. "So the volcano itself will rain down hot rocks which can obviously damage and kill a player. It can also damage any boats that are moored too close to the island. Those rocks, when they hit the water, will heat it up leading to the water becoming really dangerous. There'll be lava, there'll be geysers that fly you up into the sky itself."
"And so introducing the rowboat with this update makes a lot of sense for us, it gives a different way of navigating that you can go through this heated water, it allows you to park your boat further away, and gives you a way of carrying treasure."
Vulkanen, og det den gjør med havet, kommer til å gjøre det å utforske sunkne vrak hakket mer intenst og nervepirrende. Ikke bare er den overhengende faren for å gå tom for luft til stede, men nå er det også en fare for at du blir truffet av steiner, eller at du blir kokt levende mens du svømmer...
