The Copenhagen Flames esports organisation has announced that it has teamed up with the Danish energy company, Energive, for a partnership deal that aims to improve the well-being of children and young people. The deal aims to do so by providing a foundation of gaming and esports that can then use activities and education to work towards this common goal.
The two aim to also "break down taboos and misconceptions that exist around children's gaming habits," and aim to do so by providing a gaming-related "space for young people where they feel they belong, where they can grow and develop and be met with respect from like-minded people."
"I am pleased that we can form a partnership with Energive who from the first conversation has been very clear about their interest in esports and gaming and clear about the purpose of a collaboration between Energive and Flames," said Copenhagen Flames founder and CEO, Steffen Thomsen. "We will work together to nuance the conversation about gaming and esports, where the unhealthy aspects of gaming isn't the central subjects, but instead the unique properties of e.g. gaming communities and clubs are highlighted."
As noted by Thomsen, the two parties will also work together to host a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament later this year, as part of its initiative to improve young people's well-being.
