For bare noen få dager siden rapporterte vi at We Happy Few hadde blitt nektet klassifisering i Australia. Nå vet vi hvorfor.

Ifølge klassifiseringsstyret er grunnen til at spillet forbys, som mange spekulerte i, avbildningen og fremstillingen av rusmidler i spillet, noe Australia har veldig streng lovgivning mot.

We Happy Few er satt til en alternativ versjon av 1960-tallet hvor England har blitt invadert av nazister og befolkningen tar et rusmiddel kalt "joy" for å være i stand til å smile hele tiden.

The game's drug-use mechanic making game progression less difficult constitutes an incentive or reward for drug-use and therefore, the game exceeds the R 18+ classification that states, "drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted".

Therefore, the game warrants being Refused Classification.

Compulsion gikk også ut med en uttalelse adressert spesifikt til de australske Kickstarter-backerne, som nå kanskje ikke får spillet overhodet fordi det er blitt nektet klassifisering.
