A new report has emerged that offers some optimistic predictions for esports, and one standout prediction is that esports revenues could surpass $1 billion US dollars by as early as 2018.
A study by ESL projects esports audiences to reach nearly 200 million in 2017 with revenues of $465 million, so this growth is by no means small.
What all this money means is that esports becomes a bigger attraction for investors, as they can sponsor players or teams, or even an entire league should they want to. While esports is still young, small brands are investing due to the comparative cheapness in comparison to traditional sports, however, as it grows the report predicts that more big brands will get on board.
Do you think esports has a thriving future ahead of it?
