Overwatch League matches cancelled in China after outbreak

The ongoing coronavirus crisis has prompted the event organisers to take action.

Esports fans will be well aware of the Overwatch League, however, those looking forward to the next round of the competition should note that current events in China are causing some delays in the League.

The event organisers have announced on Twitter, that they are cancelling their upcoming February and March matches in China. They are doing this "in order to protect the health and safety of our players, fans, and staff". The cancelled matches will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

So far, the coronavirus has infected almost 7,800 people, of which the vast majority of cases have been found in mainland China. So far 170 people have died. You can follow the outbreak's development here.
