Ripstone Games has announced, in association with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and ESL, that it will make its first moves into the world of esports with the Pure Pool Contender Cup, a tournament that will be part of the first month of ESL's new PS4 events programming.
The cup will begin in Europe on December 3, and all Pure Pool owners on PS4 can sign up and compete, with the rules available on the PS4 Events App, or the Pure Pool ESL page.
Although this is Ripstone's first move into esports, the publisher already has plans for other tournaments on the PS4 in the near future, including for Pure Chess and Pure Hold'em. Each game contains online tournaments anyway, which should make the transition that bit easier.
"We've always strived to support online tournaments on PlayStation 4 within our popular titles including Pure Pool and Pure Hold'em," commented Leo Cubbin, Ripstone's managing director and co-founder. "This new initiative with SCEE and ESL will allow us to provide our Pure Pool players on PS4 with an exciting, new competitive environment for the title."
